DOKADoka Culture x Doka Culture x Floor Heating (house dance class). DOKA, Fri 13 Nov, doors 22:30.
House Dance Class by Patricie Bendova Join Patty and DJ Tracksuit for a house dance class that brings you into a shared groove in a space where no words are needed to communicate. No prior dance experience is required, just a genuine love for music and an open mind. This beginner friendly taster is the perfect way to kick off your club night, easing you onto the dance floor later at night as an active, engaged participant. With the ticket for this class you can enjoy the dancefloor in Doka for the rest of the night. House dance is tightly connected to house music, emerging from the Chicago and New York club scenes of the late 1980s and ’90s as a liberating space for marginalized communities. Its vocabulary draws on African diasporic dance forms, tap, jazz, martial arts, salsa, and more, all united by a shared emphasis on freedom of expression. More than just technique, house dance is a social and cultural practice rooted in collective, liberating experience. About the teacher: Patricie Bendova is a Czech dancer, teacher, and cultural curator exploring the intersection of club dance, research, and community. Since 2019, she has curated the Amsterdam House Dance Community and founded Solid House, fostering inclusive house dance culture. This event is part of The Better Move project initiated by Vibe Lab & Dynamic Arts, supported by the European Union.
